USLF August 16th, 2017 Board Meeting Summary

The USLF Board of Directors met August 16th for their regular monthly meeting via teleconference/meeting software at 6:05 p.m. Pacific Time.
- The USLF continues to operate conservatively and stay profitable.  Treasurer Margaret Tremain reported that July’s Profit and Loss statement shows our net income almost $9,700 ahead of last year.  The Finance Committee’s proposed budget, presented to the Board in the July Board meeting was approved and the committee now turns to developing a proposed 2018 budget to be ready by the beginning of the USLF’s fiscal year on November 1st.  Committee chairs and “owners” of line items appearing in the budget are requested to submit their proposals and ideas for new projects for 2018.
- The Nominating Committee presented a slate of six qualified candidates for the upcoming Director elections which was approved by the Board.  The democratic process that selects the USLF’s Board of Directors is a hallmark of the open and transparent operation of this organization and members are encouraged to vote promptly once they receive their ballots.  Ballots and candidate statements will be “delivered” electronically so if you don’t have email or for any reason you would like a paper ballot to complete and mail in, please contact the office and election materials will be mailed to you.  Ballots should be distributed mid-September.
- President Lisa Simmons reported that to date this year’s membership has reached 218, including thirteen lifetime members, one legacy member, twenty-one families, twenty enthusiasts, and three business.  As always, the USLF Board thanks you for energy, participation, and support!
- Vice President Lynn Smith reported that plans for our 2017 North American Lipizzan Symposium, Friday, October 27th, and Saturday, October 28th, are in place and the Pacific Northwest Lipizzan Club members are preparing their working equitation demo and practicing their quadrille.  This two-day event will also include our annual member meeting and gala dinner.  Registration forms appear in your Summer News, including the option for a mini-photography clinic by professional photographer Dotty Weber.  Your Symposium registration will include our annual member meeting, our gala dinner with awards presentations and auction.  Make your room reservations directly with the DoubleTree by Hilton Olympia, Olympia, Washington, by calling the DoubleTree at 360-570-0555.  Be sure to ask for the United States Lipizzan Federation Rate or use the following link
